As PhD Hao Yuantao said in a email to me this afternoon, the 2008 Asian Chinese Quality of Life Conference will be held on 15-18 May in Guangzhou. When I was in SUMS, I knew that Quality of Life is of severe disease like osteoporosis and liver cancer. That means QOL( Quality of Life ) is a kind of mathematical research, or maybe just a Scientific tool to me.
Is QOL very helpful for primary healthcare in mainland China? I have been seeing too many political correction in China medical research since lately 2005. Those basically are very useful for they are evidence-based healthcare deciding ways and epidemiological accurate. Most hospital managers in PRC don’t care about randomized-control, cohort research blah blah. So I draw this conclusion, that neither incentives nor scientific steps will help China health care reforming.
